A very nice authentic original (not a copy) one page document dated September 1, 1874 measuring 8" X 12" signed William H Vanderbilt in which he agrees to a repayment to Lebbens B. Ward of interest in leases for the purpose of collecting taxes from tenants on property located between the 59th and 60th street in the City of New York. William Henry Vanderbilt 1821-1885,was an American businessman and philanthropist. He was the oldest son of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt, as heir to his fortune. Willam H Vanderbilt was the richest American after he took over his father1s fortune in 1877 until his death in 1885, passing on a substantial part of his fortune to his wife and children.
